John Wadsley:-

Lieutenant Lennard Lewis Wadsley, 52nd Battalion, 13th Brigade, Australian Imperial Force. He was killed in action on September 3rd 1916 at Mouquet Farm, near Pozieres during the Battle of the Somme. Len was the last of eight children born in Hobart in 1890. His father was an orchardist with a property at Cygnet. Len had 3 older brothers and 4 sisters. He worked on the orchard with his sisters and father. Prior to his enlistment in October 1915 he had served with the 93rd (Derwent) Regiment, Citizens Military Forces for eight years.   He led the 13th reinforcements to the 15th Battalion departing from Tasmania in November 1915 for Broadmeadows in Victoria before transferring to the 52nd Battalion in April 1916 in Egypt.
