I am a descendant of Hugh Vaughan Massie and Frank Raymond Massie.

Hugh Vaughan died of wounds whilst a POW the day after capture.
He is buried in France 972 Douchy-les-Ayette British Cemetry.

Citation for Military Medal: With 3 other privates “For conspicuous gallantry as stretcher bearers on the 29 July at Ponzieres whey they worked continuously for over 20 hrs under heavy fire carrying more than 50 cases to the aid post. They again distinguished themselves on 4/5 August by their devotion to duty in carrying wounded men through Ponzieres barrages.
