Michael Joseph Hoare (soldier on left), my wife’s father, was a gunner in the Australian Army prior to joining the AIF (1st Field Artillery Brigade) in 1914. He served at Gallipoli, landing on the second day. He was badly wounded in France in August 1916 losing a leg and was repatriated to Australia. Photo was believed to have been taken at Victoria Barracks, Brisbane.
