Studio portrait of 2428 Private (Pte), (later Lance Corporal) Edwin (Ted) Greenhalgh, 3rd Battalion, of Singleton, NSW. Pte Greenhalgh, a farmer prior to enlistment embarked from Sydney with the 7th Reinforcements aboard HMAT Orsova (A67) on 14 July 1915. Lance Corporal Greenhalgh was killed in action at Armentieres, France, on 3 July 1916. He was 25 years of age. Pte Greenhalgh’s brother 2382 Frederick Mathew Greenhalgh, 18th Battalion, died of pneumonia on 19 October 1918. A third brother 1061 Pte James Greenhalgh, 20th Battalion, returned to Australia on 13 February 1917.
