Died of Wounds – 13th August, 1917

Australian War Memorial:

A railway porter from Maryborough, Vic prior to enlistment, Pte Ash embarked with D Company from Melbourne on HMAT Runic on 20 June 1916. Later transferring to the 15th Australian Light Railway Operating Company, he was wounded in action and, on 13 August 1917, aged 19, died as a result of his wounds and was buried in the Poperinghe New Military Cemetery, Belgium.
